Why Having A Home Business Is Wonderful

TCN-successpics (5)

I’ve never been a following type of person. I’m also not into the leadership side of business. So, there has never been any appeal of working a nine to five job for a fixed wage, whether I’m taking orders or giving them. Oh, I have dabbled in employment before. I’ve worked the retail part time jobs and even worked teaching English overseas. Neither were for me. I’ve always been someone who dreamed of owning their own business and working from home.

Luckily, that is a reality now. Using my Internet savvy and writing skills, I have become a fulltime freelance writer and fiction author. They go hand in hand. The freelance writing pays the bills while the fiction writing stimulates my brain. I guess you could say one pays for the other. Trust me when I say there is nothing more satisfying than using your own skills to make a living, even if it’s a modest one.

There are many things I love about working from home at my own business. The biggest one is that I get to set my own schedule. No longer do I have to get up at awful hours in the morning; instead, I go to bed at them. That’s right, I’m nocturnal. I’m early to bed and late to rise. I find I am my most productive in the dark hours of the night, when the world is asleep and I’m left to do my own thing. Sure, my family thinks it’s nuts, but they’re used to it by now. They know not wake me when most of the world is doing its thing.

The other wonderful thing is that I report to no one but myself, and I am not responsible for anyone else either. I am the master of my own destiny, and the only people I pay are subcontractors, if they factor in at all. My entire business is done online. I like having everything be electronic since it keeps my work area clean and I don’t have to pay for any overhead.

Let us also not forget another big positive to having a home business: the uniform. Or complete lack thereof. I can work naked if I want. I don’t, but I could if I wanted. I usually work in my sweats and PJs instead. The more comfortable I am, the more productive I am likely to be.

I mentioned before setting my own schedule. I work about twelve hour days. Not all at once, though. I get to take as many breaks as I want, but I am responsible for making sure the work gets done eventually. This is not a job for people who need to be held accountable by someone else. Luckily I have no issue with setting my own schedule. I am happiest working for fifteen minutes and then breaking for another fifteen. Those retail jobs never let me do that. 1. What To Consider When You Want To Start A Home Business -Some Points you have to know-

Working for someone else is sometimes unpredictable. You just never know if you might get laid off. People who want more control over their work often go into business for themselves. When you work for yourself, you are in full control over your business direction. It can be very rewarding and liberating. If you have the desire to start your own business, this article has information that can be helpful to you.

You probably have some kind of idea in what type of business you would like to get into. A lot of times, a business can evolve from a hobby. Let’s say that you are a good photographer and you have developed a style that your own. You can consider opening up your own photography business as a freelance photographer. Or perhaps you are good at making things out of wood. You can get into making custom furniture or specialty wooden toys. Think of what interests you and how you can monetize that interest.

When you have decided on a line of business to start, you should write out a business plan. Describe what you are going to do and how you will make money from it. Write down what you will need to start up, what your start-up cost will be and what kind of expenses you will incur every month. Describe how you will promote your business. Set some short-term and long-term goals. This business plan will be your roadmap to forming and running your business. You can tweak in along the way, but your basic framework should be solid. This will help keep you on track.

Working on your own business will require a lot of your time. It is typical that you will probably work longer hours than if you work for someone else. That is because as a business owner, you are in charge of every aspect of your business. You make every decision, and it takes time to make good decisions. However, as a reward of your long hours, you will have a sense of fulfillment that you will not get from working for someone else.

Start networking and getting the word out about your business. Tell your family and friends about it. Create a website, talk about it on social media networks, and just bring people’s attention to it. If your business serves your local geographic region, join your local chamber of commerce. Offer incentives to your first customers to bring them in. Work on building good customer relationships so they will spread the word about your business and refer their friends and family to you.

2. What Is A Home Business Today

I’ve been wondering what do people think about when they hear the words home business. I am a 34 year old male and I grew up watching infomercials and reading business opportunity advertisements in the paper, this was during the late 80’s and throughout the 90’s. Back then, I thought of a home based business as something like network marketing but I’m not so sure how society mentally represents a home business. In some ways that classification is only reserved for the type of direct sales type of businesses.

Technically, I have a home based business but I never describe it as so. I simply tell people that I work from home. I’m not some employee who tele-commutes or receives a paycheck. I run my own internet marketing company. I don’t even see it as a home based business because my businesses home is actually the internet where I do business with people all across the globe.

I bet that many people should update their idea of what a home based business it, it doesn’t have to be network marketing are anything like that.

I know several stay at home mothers who earn money doing freelance writing from home. Some of them earn an amount that can rival a full-time job. So are they running a home based business? I’m not sure. I guess that I am just a bit uneasy about that term because of the snake oil image it has to many people. I suppose that word doesn’t bring out the same imagery to all people but it does to people who are from my generation and older. We’ve seen all the no down payment infomercials over the years and the place one simple ad in the paper scams.

Now is a great time to work from home. I certainly love it. Unlike most people think, I do not have a ton of free time to do what I want. I typically start work at around 10 am and don’t finish until around 11 pm or 12 am. I work all day and don’t really have time for much else. Working for yourself is harder than having a job, with a job you can slack out and you only hurt the person who pays your check. If I slack off, I hurt myself. I make less money and I feel horrible. I have never worked harder in my life. It’s very much worthwhile because I make a high income but it is far from easy and my days are not like people think they are.

3. What You Must Know When Starting a Home Business

Everyone wants to have a home business, but that is because they mostly believe myths about what it is like. A lot of people want to stay in their pajamas and watch television all day while they’re working, without anyone to tell them what to do. If only that is what it were really like! It can be a challenge to run your own home business, and you have to know what you’re getting into before you decide whether you really want to do that. Here are some things to keep in mind when you are thinking about a home business.

First, you have to realize that you will have to pay self-employment tax. That may sound fine to you, but you need to realize that you have to remind yourself to pay the taxes you owe every quarter. If you fail to do that, you will end up being penalized during tax time. That is why it is best that you get an accountant.

You must also know that it is hard to keep your personal and professional lives separate, but that you must do it if you have your own home business. You need to make sure that you have a separate space for your work and your home. If you have children, that can be a challenge, but even if you only have the corner of the kitchen that may work.

You need to be aware that everyone may not support what you are doing. In fact, they may openly mock you or question your judgment. You will hear that you should get a “real job”, and your family and friends may want you to run all their errands “since you’re home all day”. You have to find a way to handle these people and these requests. The best solution is of course to ignore them, but that is not always possible. Make sure that you do your best to not give them more attention than they deserve.

You need to know that if you start a home business, most of the work you’ll do is marketing. Marketing is the name of the home business game. You can offer the best products or services, but if no one knows you or what you do, you won’t have customers and your business will fail.

A lot of people resist marketing efforts, feeling that they are sleazy or somehow undesirable. However, it doesn’t have to be the case. As long as you uses your own judgment and your own set of ethics, you will be fine.

You need to make time to relax. A lot of home business owners who are just starting out have a problem with working too much. (Fix that Problem with >>this) Then, they get burnt out, and they are unable to keep the momentum going. Instead, make yourself take a day or two off. You will find that your mind is more focused when you return.

4. What You Should Learn Before Running Your Own Home Business

Running a home business is something that a lot of people are considering. The problem is, it’s afraid to figure out what you need to do to get yourself started. Read through this article and you will be given some tips on what to do.

Know the product or service that you’re offering to people inside and out. If you’re not great at what you do or have a great product, then the word is going to spread fast about that and people are going to figure it out pretty fast due to the fact that people can leave and read reviews on the Internet. If you are going to employ anyone else, make sure that they know what they’re talking about as well so if they get asked a question they can do their best to get it answered without taking up your time.

Learn what you’re going to be looking at in terms of shipping options if you’re selling a product worldwide. There will be some places where it will just cost way too much money to ship to, and if you have a strange product or something that just can’t be mailed to certain places like food items, then you need to be able to tell people that before they try ordering from you. Look carefully at the materials you’re shipping with too so that you know the items will get to their destinations in the shape they were in when you sent them out.

Get some office space in your home where you know you’re not going to get bothered a lot by others. Sometimes you’re going to have family members trying to talk to you when you’re working from home, or you may get a phone call from a friend, but try to treat this like your job. If people don’t know your schedule, teach them about it and when a good time to get a hold of you would be. Don’t answer your phone during working hours any longer unless people need to get a hold of you for an emergency.

Always make sure you know the tax laws in the place you’re running your home business in. If you don’t, then you may end up getting a surprise when tax time rolls around. Sometimes you have to pay a certain percentage of what you made during tax season. It all just depends on what country you’re in and where the money you’re making is coming from. If you aren’t sure about any of this, make sure you contact a tax professional for help so that you don’t get in trouble with the government because you end up owing them a bunch of money.

6. How To Keep Motivated When Working From Home

If you’ve recently started working from home, then I’m sure you’ve had times when you didn’t feel like working. It’s a lot easier to slack off and not work when you’re at home than it is when you actually have to go to an office and are being held accountable. There’s no one looking over your shoulder all day so you can sit on Facebook playing games and accomplish nothing. I’ve got a few tips that will help you keep motivated and get your work done.

Get dressed every day. Just because you can work in you pajamas (or in nothing at all if you really wanted to!) doesn’t mean that you should. Studies have shown that by getting up and putting on “work clothes” that your brain becomes more focused on actually working. It gets you in the same mind frame that you’re in when you had to go to the office every day.

Try breaking up your work day into smaller pieces. If you want to work eight hours every day, you don’t have to work eight straight hours. You can work four hours in the morning, two in the afternoon, and then two in the evening. This will help keep you from getting burnt out during the day. Remember how exhausting it was coming home from working eight hours? By splitting the day up, you’re able to lessen the stress on your mind.

Make sure you’re working in a designated work spot. Don’t use that area for anything other than work. Don’t play video games there, don’t eat there, don’t sleep there. It’s very easy to get distracted when you’re working in a spot that you normally use for other activities. But if you’re in your “office” then your mind will get used to knowing that space is for work. Doctors often recommend that people who are having trouble sleeping only use their beds for sleep. Don’t watch TV there, don’t eat there, etc. This is because your mind associates certain areas with certain activities. The same can be applied to your workspace.

The next advice is going to vary based on your personal abilities. Some people can’t work in the quiet. But instead of turning on the TV, turn on some upbeat music without lyrics. If the music doesn’t have lyrics it’ll be harder for you to get distracted by it. It’ll give you energy and without distracting you. But if you’re the type of person who gets distracted by noises, turn off any music or TV you have on. You don’t want those distractions keeping you from getting your work done. Like I said, this will depend on what type of person you are. Some people work well with background noise, others don’t.

Working from home is something a lot of people dream of. But what most people don’t realize is how hard it is to stay motivated when you don’t have a boss breathing down your neck. Hopefully if you were having trouble staying motivated this advice will help bring back that motivation to work.
